We are an outraged and responsibly concerned group of neighbors and citizens who have rallied to oppose the impending demolition of the historic White Brothers Livery and Boarding Stable at 428 Jersey Street, just west of Richmond Avenue.

This wonderful 1800's structure has suffered decades of neglect at the hands of the owner, leading to this recent catastrophic partial wall collapse which endangered the lives and properties of surrounding neighbors. The owner has been, in the opinion of many citizens, an irresponsible landlord of other historic properties, namely the Lenox Hotel and the Falcon Building. The Lenox was recently lost to a California bank which held millions of dollars in loans against it, and the Falcon Building at 7 Wadsworth Street in Allentown was recently demolished at taxpayer expense after the body of a dead indigent man was found in the structure.

  • Seek an immediate halt to demolition work until such time as ALL options for saving this structure can be reviewed with input from the community.

  • Demand immediate commencement of structure stabilization to stop further collapse and protect surrounding properties from damage.

  • Hold the owner responsible for code violations, wanton neglect, endangering the public safety, and compensation of the city and neighbors for expenses incurred by being displaced from their homes.

  • Demand the city inspect ALL of the owners and their LLC's properties for code violations and other potential danger to residents.

  • Press the owners to surrender ownership of this property to an individual or entity with the desire and resources to secure and redevelop it.

  • Organize to assist neighbors displaced by this emergency.
